Aikido Dojo in Orlando Hosts U.S. Army Training
In
December 2004 an elite unit of the U.S. Army sent its protective
detail to Orlando, Florida for special Non-Lethal Urban
Warfare Training at Shoshin Aikido Dojo. Their Commanding
Officer, Lt Jeffery Green has a long association with Dan
Linden Sensei and the famous Dojo in Central Florida.
With a deployment date set but kept secret,
the army platoon arrived in the evening for several hours
of intense training in Non-Lethal Urban Tactics taught by
Linden Sensei with the assistance of Chris Evans and Curtis
Ihlefeld. The emphasis was acquisition of target and non-lethal
resolution. Aikido, for the modern warrior.
Linden Sensei, Author of On Mastering Aikido
(2004) is a U. S. Navy veteran of the Viet Nam war and has
served on special assignment to the U.S. Secret Service
Presidential Detail, the F.B.I. and the Florida Department
of Law Enforcement. He is employed as a security specialist.
Afterward, refreshments were served
outside on the deck behind Sensei’s home. “Anything
we can do for these men and women is small compensation
for what they are giving us by their service. We owe them
anything within our grasp and pay homage to their dedication.”
Said Dan Linden.
